It originally started with 1 character illustration that huke published on pixiv and his blog on December 26, 2007.
Ryo of supercell got an idea from this character and composed a song using voice synthesis software "Miku Hatsune", and huke added an image and announced it as "Black Rock Shooter" on video posting site Niconico Douga on June 13, 2008.
